sea spiders
eating everything

Sea spiders use their proboscis to rasp tissue off of animals and transport food to their gut, which is located in the trunk and extends into the legs. Palps are used to assist holding the prey to the proboscis. The prey in this photo is a snail. These photos were taken of sea spiders caught in a trawl and brought to a tank at Palmer Station by another science group.
